Proactive is distributed through the Autodesk App Store, but the commercial model is set out here first, so you know exactly what the evaluation gives you and what happens when it ends.

How it works
Four steps. The last one happens only when commercial licensing launches.
- Download from Autodesk App Store The listing carries the installer for Revit 2024, 2025 and 2026.
- Install Proactive Run the installer with Revit closed. The Proactive tab appears on the ribbon next time you start.
- Start your evaluation The 45 days run from first successful use, not from download or installation.
- Move to a paid licence when commercial licensing launches A paid licence will replace the evaluation entitlement in the existing installation. No reinstall or reconfiguration will be required.
What happens when the evaluation expires
Model-changing features pause
When the evaluation expires, model-changing features pause. Proactive remains installed. Your Revit models, workset assignments, Proactive configuration, logs and diagnostics remain unchanged and available.
Licensing, status and diagnostics stay available
An expired evaluation does not uninstall, disable or remove anything. Licensing, the About and status view, logs and diagnostics remain available in the installation you already have.
Support-issued extensions
When the extension process is available, support will be able to issue a signed extension for the installation you already have. Accepting it will not require a replacement build, reinstall or reconfiguration.
Paid conversion happens in place
When commercial licensing becomes available, a paid licence will replace the evaluation entitlement in the existing installation. No reinstall or reconfiguration will be required, and existing project configuration remains intact.
One evaluation per computer
The evaluation is tied to the installation, not to an account. Reinstalling Proactive or renaming the machine does not start a second 45 days.
No account, no email
There is no Proactive sign-in inside Revit and no user email address is collected for licensing.
If you decide to continue
Planned launch pricing is annual. Every plan is set to include all released governance capabilities and unlimited projects and models; the plan only sets how many computers can run Proactive at once.

Checkout is not yet available. You can evaluate Proactive now and purchase a licence when commercial licensing launches. One Proactive Seat covers one active computer, and a seat can be released and reassigned when a machine is replaced or rebuilt. Distribution is through the Autodesk App Store; payment for a licence will be handled outside Autodesk.

First successful use
Needs an internet connection. After that, Proactive keeps working for up to 7 days without reaching the licensing service.
Your model data
Rule checks run locally in your Revit session. Model content is not uploaded.
